“These Are For You” is a series by Shanina Dionna, created to help humanize what it means to live with a mental health illness, this series exhibits one way to approach self care – giving yourself flowers. However, the nude model visually communicates that she doesn’t exactly know what to do with the bouquet of pink roses. The color palette of muted, neutral tones help convey a minimalistic approach to life, suggesting less is more and quiet is just as powerful. As an ode to relieving the stigma, you will see the model taking humorous and non-conventional attempts at engaging with her flowers. She tries to eat them whole, shoots them at the viewer and even tosses them upside down over her shoulder.
